About Joseph Merkle
I write because words are one of the ways we make sense of being human. Through my own personal trials of experiencing grief, I arrived at a destination I could not ignore. The place where I gained experience that could help so many people through the most difficult times of their lives. My goal now is to help others ease their pain through my writing and volunteering for the bereavement team at Hospice. I realize now that at the age of 73, I’ve finally found my true purpose.
My work explores love, faith, loss, and the quiet transformations that happen when life doesn’t go as planned. I’m drawn to the in-between moments—the places where grief and hope coexist, where meaning isn’t announced but slowly revealed.
I believe stories matter. Not because they offer easy answers, but because they remind us we’re not alone in our questions. Whether through fiction, reflection, or journaling, my aim is always the same: to create space for honesty, remembrance, and renewal. And the enduring message of all time, love never dies.
